Righteous food and a fantastic family. This food is authentic and delicious. The prices are low. This family goes out of their way to make you feel welcome.

The place was VERY busy and this was my first visit. I liked the atmosphere and the wait staff was friendly. Unfortunately, my dinner--the taco, enchilada and rice combo was just not that good. I live Mexican food, but maybe it was an off night for them. Prices were reasonable.

Yummy food, excellent service! Always welcoming. The chicken and rice burrito is wonderful, too.

Other than the one employee (You know who you are!) spilling ice water down my lap I love Chavela's. Good food, nice people and it's a family owned and operated business. You can't go wrong unless a certain person spills ice water all over you when the AC is turned up. Hey! Accidents happen. I'm a forgiving sort....maybe.

Very good food! I love the shrimp quesadilla and my husband loves most everything on the menu. The drink specials for happy hour are awesome!

We had to wait almost hour thirty minutes for are food but then we got told it would be another 40 minutes wait so we just left. It was not busy at all so there was no excuse fo3 why we had to wait.

Very slow service after order called in about 45 mins ahead...very small entrees and food tasted horrible! Could have cooked the food at home a whole lot cheaper and it would have tasted MUCH BETTER! Would not recommend...go to San Jose on Sparkleberry Rd in Columbia for great food, service, and very affordable!

Great food with a small town flare, certainly a bit different than your typical chain restaurant and it really shines when you get away from ordering your typical Americanized-Mexican food.Owned and operated by a local family, so dont be afraid to stop in and support a local business. Louie (the owner)genuinely cares about the customers experience.

Absolutely unbelievable! Such great service, cozy and homey atmosphere and the food is literally top notch. There is nothing ordinary about this place— everything is so fresh and is the epitome of comfort food 💕 my husband and I have a 15 month old, so we rarely get to go out on dates. We decided to try this place and we are SO HAPPY we did. Thank you for a great kickstart to our date night!! We will definitely be coming back!

Best place to go in Elgin!

Skeptical at first this small south Carolina gem is the real deal. The best choices are ordered off menu. They'll do anything they have the ability to do. I enjoyed delicious carnitas with perfect beans. The salsa is spot on. The cheese sauce is heavenly.

We love this place.. it's just fun and the food is great.. the owners are very personal and treat all the customers as family. On Thursday nights, Teddy plays cover music and he is really good.

The best Mexican for 100 mile radius. Never had a bad meal here and everything is very authentic. Would not eat Mexican anywhere else but Chavela's

Great local Mexican joint. Get the hot sauce, if you're into that... The lunch menu won't leave you wanting. My only thing... The salsa and the gaucamole could use some more salt and lime juice. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Chavela's is a good place to meet for a fun and relaxing time with friends or family. The food is great and the owner, Luis, makes you feel like you're at home.

The food is amazing and the place is clean. The people are so friendly and the prices are better than any other Mexican restaurants. We stopped going to San Jose because I boycotted them and their quality of food was not as great either. But the food at Chavelas is very authentic. Take it from a Mexican (me). I'm originally from Texas and I know what Mexican food is like.
